The Institute of Civil and Business Law has the largest research team of 21, with 18 having a Ph.D., and many own an overseas doctor degree. The Institute’s main research area include general principles of civil law, property law, contract, torts, intellectual property law, marriage law, inheritance law, guarantee law, general theories of business law, company law, securities law, law of negotiable instruments, insurance law, financial law, foreign civil and commercial law studies. The University Center for Hard Cases in Civil and Business Law sets to promote the smooth interactions between legal practice and legal research by focusing on the hard cases arising from the civil and commercial practices. This has greatly contributed to the improved quality in legal training and the school-wide teaching and research level in legal-practice related subjects.
